Co-Curriculum

Uruku Academy believes that in order to achieve a well-rounded education, children should be provided with the opportunity to explore more than the fundamentals of numeracy and literacy.

Therefore we offer a comprehensive program within the curriculum and additionally offer children the opportunity to develop their talents beyond the classroom.

Uruku Academy broad range of activities and offerings cater for a diverse range of interests and abilities enhancing everyday school life.

We offer co-curriculum activities like games, clubs such as CU, scouts, journalism, ICT Club, wildlife and others.

More to this, our pupils are well disciplined because we base them in Christian faith and we always guide them to put God first. This is where they have time to pray before they start their studies in the morning and when they are ending the lessons. They also pray in the class before go for any meal. We have also duties when the teachers and children read the Bible in the assembly. However as the studies continues we have other activities like price day, mid-term, and clinic days. We also take pupils for educational tours to the national parks, museums and game reserves. School is also offering tours to other schools for games, trips to agricultural institutes, etc.

Co-Curricular activities are those which are undertaken side by side with the curricular activities. A co-curricular activity essentially takes place outside a typical pen and pencil classroom experience. It gives the pupils an opportunity to develop particular skills and exhibit their non-academic abilities. These activities might be compulsory, such as music, art or drama classes that take place during the day. Others generally are voluntary, such as participating in school sports team, school debating team or student newsletters. In either case, participation can assist students in more than one ways.

They actually complement the curricular activities and groom the pupils in the “Art of living and working together.” They are the true and practical experiences gained by pupils by their own learnings.

Co-curricular activities render a number of values like:

  • Educational value
  • Psychological Values
  • Development of Social Values
  • Development of Civic Values
  • Physical Development Values
  • Recreational Values
  • Cultural Values
