Curriculum
Our Curriculum at Uruku Academy and Secondary School
At Uruku Academy and Secondary School, we provide a structured, high-quality education system aligned with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Our academic program is designed to equip learners with knowledge, skills, and values that prepare them for a successful future.
1. Early Childhood Development (E.C.D)
We provide a strong foundation for young learners, starting from Play Group to PP2 (Pre-Primary 2). This stage focuses on nurturing creativity, social skills, and early literacy through interactive and engaging learning activities.
2. Primary Education (Grade 1 – 6)
Our primary section caters to learners from Grade 1 to Grade 6, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences. Pupils in Grade 3 sit for the Kenya Early Years Assessment (KEYA), which evaluates their progress in foundational subjects.
3. Junior Secondary School (JSS)
This level includes Grade 7 to Grade 9, where students engage in more specialized subjects and skill-based learning. At Grade 6, learners sit for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KEPSEA), which helps transition them into JSS. At Grade 9, students undertake the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), a national exam that marks the completion of junior secondary education.

My school is the most enjoyable place for me. My school is located very near to my home. I walk to my school every day. I love all my teachers. They are very kind and polite in correcting our mistakes. They have never been hard on us. So, we have always tried our best to study well and write our exams well. My school is known for its best results in our locality. I am very proud of my school. I like my school very much.
Advantages of the Curriculum Based Method of Teaching.
1. A curriculum is considered the “heart” of any learning institution which means that schools or universities cannot exist without a curriculum.
2. Gives educators a solid framework to rely on.
3. The child’s progress is easily monitored.
4. No nagging questions about whether or not your child is learning the right things at the right time.
“School is a place that provides education and education is the key to life.”
